travel backpackingArgentina Galleries

Argentina has the best beef in the world, delicious Malbec wine, Patagonia and Salteña empanadas. In Patagonia we walked with penguins and rolled on the beach with elephant seals. Buenos Aires is a city with heavy European influence offering incredible architecture and art sculptured parks. We had two road trips in Argentina which created new friendships and provided stunning landscapes. And we had lots of beef, wine and empanadas… did we already mention that?

travel backpackingBolivia Galleries

Bolivia has some of the most amazing landscapes in all of Latin America. From the largest salt flats in the world to the highest cities in the world, it’s full of record breaking natural wonders. We explored the controversial mines of Cerro Rico (Rich Mountain) in Potosi and trekked for 3 days in search of dinosaur footprint fossils near Sucre. After roughing it on dirt roads and old buses, be entertained the big city of La Paz. Enjoy the wonderful colors of Bolivia.

travel backpackingBrazil Galleries

Iguazu Falls (Cataratas do Iguaçu) is located in the Brazil and Argentina border. It consists of 275 waterfalls along 2.7 Kilometers (1.6 miles). The views were beautiful, but feeling the power of the water is truly amazing. On the Brazilian side of the river is Iguaçu National Park. In this park, we rode bikes through the jungle, climbed a ropes course, raced a boat into the waterfall gorge and enjoyed some nature tours. The park is also a UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

travel backpackingChile Galleries

During our time in Chile we rented a rented a 4×4 pick up truck and took an amazing road trip into the Northern Altiplano then made our way south to San Pedro de Atacama and saw pink flamingos, geysers, salt flats, wild vicuñas, and multiple beautiful sunsets.  The high light of our visit in Chile was our 9-day hiked of the Full Circuit at Torres del Paine National Park.

Colombia Galleries

We would like to help change the perception others might have of Colombia. Through our pictures we’d like to show what it has to offer. During our stay we enjoyed strolling the beautiful colonial streets of Cartagena, swimming in the pristine beaches of Tayrona Park, discovering the modern city of Medellin, taking lovely country side hikes near the small town of Salento and salsa dancing in Cali.

travel backpackingCosta Rica Galleries

During our time in Costa Rica we visited the beautiful beaches on both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts, the cloud forest region of Monteverde and Santa Ana and the city of San Jose. We were truly impressed with the natural beauty and rich wildlife of Costa Rica. Don’t limit yourself to the Caribbean coast, you will be surprised at the Pacific coast beaches such as Samara Beach.

travel backpackingEcuador Galleries

Ecuador is Aracely’s country of birth and we really enjoyed having the opportunity to visit as many places as we did. We hope to make others aware that there is much more to Ecuador than The Galapagos Islands (which we did not visit this time around.) During our time in Ecuador we visited its major cities, the beach, hiked in the central highlands and even ate Cuy.

travel backpackingEl Salvador Galleries

When we began our journey in Central America, El Salvador was the country we decided to avoid. The decision was not based on any specific reason we simply preferred a more direct route south and planned to travel from Guatemala to Honduras to Nicaragua and onwards. With Honduras’s political instability we decided to make made a detour to El Salvador instead. And we are glad we did.

travel backpackingGuatemala Galleries

On August 27, 2024 we set out to travel the world. Our first destination was Guatemala. Unfamiliar with backpacking and staying in hostels we were happy to have met a couple from London that were rookies too. We trekked around the country for ten days and then settled in Antigua for three weeks to take Spanish language classes. This country has truly surprised us with its diverse natural beauty, rich culture and magical landscape.

travel backpackingNicaragua Galleries

Nicaragua is the largest country in Central American with lots to offer visitors.  During our 16-day visit we enjoyed many different activities from Volcano Boarding, to a multi-day trek, surfing and finally a great canopy tour with views of the beach.  Although Nicaragua is the second poorest country in Latin America (Haiti being the first) it’s definitely not the cheapest to visit.

travel backpackingPanama Galleries

Panama offered us adventure, sun, history, and great shopping. We visited Bocas del Toro, Boquete, Panama City and Puerto Lindo. Our activities included whitewater rafting, hot springs, Pacific and Caribbean Coast islands, and visiting the Panama Canal. Then we left Central America on a sailboat and headed to Cartagena Colombia to begin our South American journey.

travel backpackingPeru Galleries

Most famous for the great Inca ruins of Machu Picchu, we didn’t hesitate to book a 5-day Salkantay tour. Even without Machu Picchu, Cusco is one of the most interesting cities in all of South America. With miles of every direction are spectacular Inca and pre-Inca ruins. We relaxed on the beaches of Mancora, hiked Colca Canyon near Arequipa and flew over the famous Nazca lines. Peru is the land of endless trekking, mythical ruins and the great desert city of Lima.
