This Rhinoceros Beetle was found injured on the ground just outside our hostel in Juayua, El Salvador.

Rhinoceros Beetles are among the largest of beetles in the world, and their common name refers to the characteristic horns borne by the males of most species in the group. The male beetles use their horns in mating battles against other males. -Wikipedia

Semuc Champey is a natural wonder of Guatemala near the Q’eqchi’ Maya town of Lanquín.  As we walked though the jungle to get to the 300m limestone bridge of stepped of turquoise pools we encountered this cicada molting.
