Celebration of the Virgen de la Candelaria Festival & Basilica in Copacabana, Bolivia

Copacabana is the main Bolivian town on the shore of Lake Titicaca, from where boats leave for Isla del Sol, the sacred Inca island. The town has a large 16th-century shrine, the Basilica of Our Lady of Copacabana. Our Lady of Copacabana is the patron saint of Bolivia.

The town is a destination for tourism in Bolivia. The town is also known for its famous Basilica, home of the Virgin of Copacabana, its trout, and its quaint atmosphere. Built between Mount Calvario and Mount NiƱo Calvario, the town has approximately 6,000 inhabitants. Copacabana’s religious celebrations, cultural patrimony, and traditional festivals are well known throughout Bolivia. – Wikipedia

    Hi!

I did not realize they celebrated Candelaria in Copa. I thought Candelaria was celebrated in Puno? I was just at the festival last week and it was amazing. Bolivia has a festival coming up as well. Its supposed to be just as big as La Candelaria.
    Great photo!

    Saludos,
    Mica :-)

  2. I was at this event and I had such a good time despite being so sick from altitude. Great capture!

The colors are great! The sun off the fabric and textures really makes the picture… um, shine! :D
