My Last Week of Work

corpheadOne week left for maintaining employment in the United States.  It is shocking and uneasy to say at the same time.  I feel like my entire adult life has been heavily focused on improving my career, making more money and being able to invest in my future and myself.  The thought of not having a job for the first time since I graduated college is frightening.  Here comes my story’s hook.  It is not frightening for me; it is frightening for those that surround me.

Imagine that.

Our particular idea is probably a bit extreme; okay, it’s probably very extreme (relatively.)  I mean, how many people (in their late 20’s to early 30’s) do you know have the great idea to quit their jobs, sell everything they own and go backpacking?  How many actually do it?  Regardless of how extreme the urge, following through or scratching the itch, is quite intimidating, scary at best.  Now I know why most people don’t execute on those conversations.
