Now that would would have been a much more serious situation. I learned a big lesson on this trip. Pack some food regardless of how long the hike is scheduled to be. And in your situation, its vitally important.

I think I would have died a little if I would have been hiking for 7 hours – almost literally. I’m quite hypoglycemic and I would have started having panic attacks just a few hours in with the lack of sugar. Major kudos to you.

It’s so cool that we know the same people countries away. Walter ended up taking us on the more casual stroll to the lake the following day and that is where the picture came from. So, no, Walter didn’t get us lost. He was a very informative guide. He apologized for his buddy Tulio.

Camped out in the woods with no food or water. It would have been a sure test emotionally and physically. The fact that we had no water was what scared me the most. We were already spent after hiking 7 hours and had only a few sips left. It would have made for some good film though.
