Salcantay (Nevado Salcantay) or Salkantay (Nevado Salkantay), Sallqantay in Quechua is the highest peak of the Cordillera Vilcabamba, part of the Peruvian Andes. It is located in the Cusco Region, about 60 km (40 mi) west-northwest of the city of Cusco. It is the 38th highest peak in the Andes, and the twelfth highest in Peru. However, as a range highpoint in deeply incised terrain, it is the second most topographically prominent peak in the country, after Huascarán. – Wikipedia
We captured this photo during the Salkantay Pass, which was day 2 of our hike to Machu Picchu via the Salkantay Inca Trail. This trek provided us with the most incredible picture set we have ever taken, even with our cameras starting to fail us.

Gorgeous! I also did the salkantay trek. The first half was awful. I ended up shitting my pants in my sleeping bag the first night (camping next to Salkantay). What a disaster. Once we started descending a bit, life was good. Beautiful pic. B well, Phil
Lol, seriously. That sucks, but a great story someday.
Yeah it was awful. Thought I just had to fart, turned into an absolute nightmare. The worst part was having to clean myself in the middle of the night in the bathroom “tent.” I threw away my pants and boxers and everyone was asking questions about it the next day. At breakfast: “Did you notice someone threw away their pants in the bathroom?” “Oh yeah, I saw that too, I wonder what happened.” Yikes.
Wow! That is an absolute nightmare. Honestly, I wouldn’t have told anybody at camp either. At least you had some backup pants.
